Project Background & Requirements

Hotel buildings present fire protection requirements that differ from residential or general commercial construction. Guestroom corridors function as primary escape routes, and each guestroom door acts as a compartmentation barrier that must hold back fire and smoke long enough for safe evacuation. Because hotels combine high occupant density, overnight sleeping occupancy, and complex corridor layouts, fire rated doors are treated as a core life-safety component rather than a finishing item.

Based on this, the project specification set out three core requirements:

Fire Safety Requirements — Doors tested and certified to internationally recognized standards, with fire resistance performance suitable for guestroom and corridor compartmentation, and certification traceability as a firm project requirement.
Customized Door Specifications — Door sizes, core construction, finish, and hardware preparation matched to the project's Door Schedule and architectural drawings, rather than a fixed catalog size range.
International Project Communication — Technical communication bridging time zone, drawing format, and terminology differences between the project's Door Schedule/BOQ documentation and Qi An's production drawings, with revision cycles managed to avoid delays.
Qi An Door Solution
Qi An's engineering team reviewed the project's Door Schedule and architectural drawings and produced corresponding CAD shop drawings for each door type, covering leaf dimensions, frame profiles, hardware locations, and fire rating labeling requirements — allowing specifications to be confirmed before production.

Based on the confirmed drawings, doors were manufactured to order, covering the leaf core, facing material, frame, and fire-rated door core construction required for the specified fire resistance rating, following the confirmed drawing package door-by-door to match the variation across the Door Schedule.

Doors underwent in-process and pre-shipment quality inspection covering dimensional accuracy, core density and construction, surface finish, and hardware preparation, in line with Qi An's ISO 9001 quality management procedures.

Finally, doors were packaged for export shipment with protective packaging suited to sea freight, with export documentation prepared to support customs clearance at destination.
